Does Ranitidine or the commercial brand Zantac break down into a human cancer causing carcinogen? YES, but the FDA defended their position of “it is not a contamination,” but the fundamental problem is that it's an unstable molecule. Again the FDA has been caught with its pants down.

MedpageToday
Zantac, and the generic Ranitidine, that's now being shelved across the country as I write this article, isn't necessarily "contaminated" with nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA); rather, the carcinogen stems from a breakdown of the ranitidine molecule. According to online pharmacy Valisure.

Have you ever noticed that pharmaceuticals advertised on TV this year, are being sued next year, because people are dying from the drug that was previously approved by the FDA?

Those of you that are my regular readers, are likely familiar with my complaint against the criminal organizations of the FDA and the CDC. Touted as pharmaceutical safety oversight departments, they are not only unconstitutional, illegal Federal organizations, but they are next to useless and sometimes dangerous government agencies, especially when they judge a drug to be safe - when it is not.

This particular drug may not be important to you, but it is to me, because I have been taking the drug Ranitidine for the past three years. This, by the way is when it was discovered by a Stanford doctor, and found to cause more than 3,000 times the level of NDMA (a human cancer causing carcinogen) that the FDA set when it had to decide how much NDMA could be tolerated in angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs).

Note:  To date, my doctor at the VA hasn’t contacted me about the alert.

Three years ago William Mitch, PhD, of Stanford University, co-authored a 2016 paper that found an average of 48,000 nanograms of NDMA in 24-hour urinary excretion after participants took a 150-mg ranitidine dose, a 400-fold spike from baseline, or what is the expectable limit for pharmaceutical safety standards. Dr Mitch immediately turned his finding over to the FDA. That as I said was three years ago when I was started on ranitidine by my doctor.

Recently a company, which performs its own testing on drugs that it carries, alerted the FDA to the ranitidine issues in June of 2019. It then filed a Citizen Petition again in September urging the FDA to pull all ranitidine from the market. That was in June and September, today it’s the end of October and the FDA still’, not only ignores the alert, but defends its previous findings. The problem here, as I see it is a faulty test by the FDA.  Read, then you decide.

"The fundamental problem is that it's an unstable molecule," David Light, CEO of Valisure, told MedPage Today. "The drug itself can directly degrade and form, very high levels of nitrosodimethylamine or NDMA a human Cancer causing carcinogen."

The FDA response was: “A protocol that doesn't use elevated temperatures should be deployed instead, and this has revealed lower levels of NDMA in ranitidine” -- although the agency still called those levels "unacceptable."

Again I am not exactly ignorant about what is going on here. It is quite obvious that the FDA has just created multiple conditions until they find one that fits the results they are looking for, in order to approve the drug for use.

Light argued that other studies using other conditions also showed NDMA as a ranitidine breakdown product, including exposure to chlorine (particularly in wastewater treatment plants) and ozone.
"These are conditions that could cause NDMA to form during the standard transit of ranitidine products both by suppliers and individual patients -- a hot car, for example," Light said.

While a "body-temperature" model used in Valisure's ranitidine testing didn't turn up NDMA, another test mimicking the stomach environment yielded 300,000 ng of NDMA from a 150-mg tablet.

That's more than 3,000 times the level the FDA set when it had to decide how much NDMA could be tolerated in angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs).

William Mitch, PhD, of Stanford University, co-authored a 2016 paper that found an average of 48,000 nanograms of NDMA in 24-hour urinary excretion after participants took a 150-mg ranitidine dose, a 400-fold spike from baseline.

"We don't know if the ranitidine was converted to NDMA in the stomach or in the body (e.g., liver), because we only measured the urine," Mitch said in an email to MedPage Today. "But we suspect some conversion in the body since the levels we were seeing were higher than previous measurements of NDMA in human gastric juice after ranitidine consumption."

Despite the findings of more than three independent studies, the FDA hasn't ordered a recall of ranitidine products. However, other countries -- including Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria -- have done so, and major U.S. retailers including CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid have pulled all ranitidine including the commercial brand Zantac from store shelves. Sandoz and Apotex have voluntarily recalled their versions.

"Unfortunately, there's a misunderstanding with some regulatory agencies thinking about this as just contamination, and that does appear to have been the position of the FDA," Light said. "Contamination is almost irrelevant compared with the fundamental instability of this drug."

Valisure launched about a year ago, positioning itself as a pharmacy, a lab, and a wholesaler. Now licensed in 38 states and with a staff of 12 in Yale University's Science Park in New Haven, Connecticut, it analyzes some 2,000 compounds -- mainly generics, and now some brands -- to introduce a level of quality control into the system that Light says hasn’t exist before.

"This is a largely self-reported industry, with very little chemical analysis of products," Light said, noting that many manufacturers are in China and India. "We thought, wouldn't it be great to have chemical analysis at the end of the supply chain where it matters the most, when patients are going to get the drug?"

The carcinogenic breakdown doesn't appear to be a class effect for H2 antagonists, and it doesn't seem to extend to proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), the other major heartburn drug class, Light said.
Valisure tested 10 major H2 antagonists and PPIs, and found only one other drug, nizatidine (Axid), which is less commonly used in the U.S., turned up some NDMA, at levels 70-fold lower than those seen with ranitidine.

Other drugs in the same class, famotidine or cimetidine, didn't generate any NDMA under the high-heat test; nor did the PPIs Omeprazole which is what I now take. (Prilosec) or esomeprazole (Nexium).

Given ranitidine's popularity, physicians are facing questions from patients about whether they should be tossing it from their medicine cabinets. Yeah ya think?

While the FDA hasn't called for patients to stop taking the medication, Joshua Gagne, PharmD, ScD, noted on a Harvard Medical School blog that ranitidine "is only recommended for short-term use."
For patients who have been "using ranitidine for a while, now would be a good time" to determine whether they still need it or if they might switch to another drug, "including other drug classes or a different H2 blocker."

THE BOTTOM LINE: It is still my opinion based on several studies and an enormous amount of research that the FDA is more interested in its residual under the table kickbacks otherwise known as financial incentives or bribes than it is in the safety of prescription drugs.

This my friend, is your government protecting you while you sleep your apathetic life away.

Comrade Nancy Pelosi chose criminal minded Adam Schiff instead of the usual practice of House Judiciary Chairman, in this case, Jerry Nadler to steer the Democrats’ second fake impeachment coup against Donald Trump. Many of her fellow comrades in the House Communist party questioned the wisdom of the decision after criminal minded Schiff’s disastrous performance as the face of the frame-up Russian collusion conspiracy theory of the first fake impeachment coup of the dully constitutionally elected president.
Those worries mushroomed into full-fledged panic when Schiff made a startling admission about how he planned to proceed with his plans to push articles of impeachment through the House.
Why do I say it is a FAKE IMPEACHMENT?  Well my friend, because it’s not real. The Communists may be criminal, but they aren’t stupid. They know all too well that even if they are somehow able to manipulate, twist, spin and ignore the rules and impeachment actually passes the house, Trump will never be removed from office.  So all they can hope for is, if they put enough doubt in the minds of the voters then maybe, just maybe they can take full control of the government, the nation, and the people.
The focus of the Democrats’ fake impeachment inquiry began with a fake “whistleblower” that allegedly filed a fake complaint claiming President Trump improperly pressured the Ukrainian President (even the Ukrainian president himself, said he wasn’t pressured, but that is neither here or there) to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden for possible corruption in Ukraine.
Allegations of a “quid pro quo” involving Ukrainian military aide also hovered around the so-called “whistleblower’s” complaint.
Note: No one has ever seen, nor heard from, this so-called whistleblower. So until he/she is produced, he/she doesn’t legally exist.
But as more details emerged it is quickly becoming clear the Democrats erred in putting all their alleged eggs in this alleged basket.
First, it was revealed the intelligence community inspector general found the so-called “whistleblower” held a political bias against President Trump. Not only was this so-called “whistleblower” a registered Democrat, but he/she also allegedly worked with Joe Biden when Biden served as Obama’s Vice President.
The so-called “whistleblower” may also have committed a felony by not disclosing his contacts with Adam Schiff’s Congressional staff on the complaint form.
With all the red flags surrounding the so-called “whistleblower’s” credibility popping up, Schiff and the Democrats continued to move the goalposts on his/her testimony.
Schiff and the Democrats claimed the so-called “whistleblower” needed to testify from a secure location with their face obscured and their voice altered out of fear that Republicans might harm him/her.  Owooo this sounds mysteriously cloak and dagger, but then this is how criminal rats operate in the Swamp.
When that didn’t pass the laugh test, Schiff went on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning and claimed the so-called “whistleblower’s” testimony wasn’t needed after all.
Oh well that’s good, because he/she likely doesn’t really exist anyway.
“Our primary interest right now is making sure that, that person is protected. Indeed, now there’s more than one whistleblower, that they are protected,” Schiff told CBS.
WOW! Now they have alleged whistleblowers coming out of the walls and woodwork. They have all the whistleblowers they need but apparently without whistles.
“We do want to make sure that we identify other evidence that is pertinent to the [investigation] — the withholding of the military support, the effort to cover this up by hiding this in a classified computer system,” Schiff added. “It may not be necessary to take steps that might reveal the whistleblower’s identity to do that.”
No mention that Trump voluntarily turned the transcript of the phone call over to the DOJ. What cover-up???  What other evidence? This is a typical Schiff criminal tactic, to claim ‘more/plenty/other evidence that is never produced’, just as he did in the first coup attempt.
New York Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin blasted Schiff for this chicanery on ABC’s “This Week.”
“There should be a process, but instead what Adam Schiff wants is to get the United States of America drunk on his favorite cocktail,” Zeldin declared. “There’s three ingredients: One is cherry-picking leaks, second is withholding facts, and three he is just outright lying.”
Trump supporters suspected Schiff was playing games all along.
The so-called “whistleblower’s” credibility and motives sit at the heart of this matter.
But if Republicans can’t question this so-called “whistleblower”, because Pelosi won’t bring the impeachment to a house vote, the American people will never have the opportunity to fairly judge their complaint and decide if the President’s conduct rises to the level of an impeachable offense.
Pelosi is wrong when she says that the Constitution doesn’t require a vote of the full House to impeach the president. Investigation is part of the impeachment due process.
Note: Constitutional law doesn’t stipulate what part of the house, what party, or majority, or minority. That’s because the law reads, “The House of Representatives shall” meaning the whole House not just a few or a part of. They legally must have a vote of the full house.
Schiff, Pelosi, and the Democrats know this but as usual they don’t care. Remember in a Democracy the majority rules not law. The law only rules in a Constitutional Republic.
And why is the fake and illegal impeachment inquiry being conducted without a vote and in secret? So the Republicans cannot participate. "No Due Process For You Trump"
The Democrats figure the less the American people know about what is going on in the Swamp, the better chance they have of impeaching President Trump. If that is even their real intention. Or’ because this is all fake, is it then the intention to just drag this out until the 2020 election just to cast a shadow over the reelection of Donald Trump, leaving enough questions in the minds of the manipulated voters so that Trump will lose?
Thank God we still have enough of the Constitutional Representative Republic left so that we still have the representation of the “Electoral College” that is until the Communists do away with that as well.
THE BOTTOM LINE: But not to worry, we still have the last vestige of our Constitutional Representative Republic. It’s called the Electoral College, which was designed by the Constitutional Architects to prevent exactly what is happening today, the criminal manipulation of the voters.
Remember despite the criminal interference and attempted manipulation of the 2016 election by the DNC, the Constitutional safeguards prevailed, and Donald Trump was legally elected the President of the United States.
This my friend is why the Communists now want to abolish the Electoral College, the last protection of our Free Representative Republic. If they are ever able to accomplish that, America will have become a full-fledged True Democracy, where the majority rules, instead of law, where the minority have no rights of representation, or no rights at all.
The DeepState SwampRats started the destruction of the Republic back in 1913 with the passage of the 17 amendment among other unconstitutional acts– this destroyed the balance of power between the state and the federal governments by changing the election of the Senators from the appointment by state legislators to the majority of the popular vote. This was the first blow of destruction to the Representative Constitutional Republic. Now the majority of the people can be manipulated into voting for DeepState SwampRat Senators of the Communist Democratic Progressive Party. And the states have no direct representation at all.
A True Democracy is a guaranteed one way trip to tyranny my friend. This is why the Framers did everything they could to prevent it. And now the Democrats are doing everything they can to promote it.
A related article: “The Secret History of Todays Anti-American Democrat Socialists Communist Party”  This article proves without a doubt that the Democrats have had since their inception, the agenda of enslaving the minority by destroying the Republic, the Constitution, and freedom. Turning this nation back into a subjugated people. And-as usual I challenge anyone to refute it.

Moreover they will never stop…

If this is not what you want my friend, you had better do something about it now while you still can. Or as in Europe they are beyond the point of stopping it…we will have another war for the survival of our freedom.

Think about it…

Thanks for listening my friend. Now go do the right thing, pray and fight for truth and freedom.

The following article was penned and sent to me by one of my subscribers, it may sound like tongue in cheek but it contains more truth than Satire.  This is the way this writer sees our country now and in the future. I can almost hear this being taught in our government DeepState institutions of indoctrination called the public school system.  Is this 1984 coming true?

By Steve A

Okay boys and girls, here is our lesson for today. It’s about our good and all-powerful government. Our government is wise and knows what is best for you and your family. It is imperative that you listen to your government and do everything it says. If you don’t, all the bad things people have done before they learned to listen to their government will end up destroying our world.

The government helps you and keeps you safe from the time you are a little baby. They will protect you from disease by giving you lots and lots of shots. You don’t need to ask what is in those shots. The government knows best.

The government will take care of you when you get sick by deciding what care your family should get and when you should get it. If they decide your illness shouldn’t be treated, listen to them. If they decide that grandma or grandpa are too old to receive care . . . it’s okay. They are the government and they know what’s best.

If the government comes to your house and takes away your mommy and daddy’s guns, tell mommy and daddy not to worry. The government will protect you and your family from bad people.

The government will take care of all your needs. If no one in your family wants to work, that’s okay. The government will give you money every month as well as free food, a free place to live, and most importantly, a free cell phone.

If someone in your family does decide to get a job and go to work, the government will make sure he/she receives a minimum wage higher than they ever dreamed possible. Of course the government must take most of that money to make sure it is spent wisely and ensure you have a wonderful life.

The government will give you a free education and teach you exactly the things they want you to know. This will insure you become a model citizen and do not become a bad person. You can continue your education for as long as you want. You can go to college (remember it’s free) and stay there until your almost as smart as the government. Then you can retire if you want and spend your last year’s reflecting on all you’ve learned and how great the government has treated you.

The government will provide you with news about how well things are going. Make sure you listen to the news. It will give you the information you need . . . continuously. There may be some people who will tell you not to listen to the news. Do not listen to these bad people. Instead, tell the government what they said and let the government make sure they don’t bother you anymore.

Our government wants to make sure you enjoy freedom of religion. They will periodically publish a list of those religions that you may enjoy. Of course, every good citizen should notify the government if someone in their place of worship says something that you did not learn in school or from the news. This way the government can correct them and make sure you only hear the truth.

You must remember, and tell all your friends, the government protects you from the bad people. To do this, the government has ways to see the things people write, the things people buy, the places people go, and the things people say and do.

MAKE SURE YOU DON’T BECOME A BAD PERSON.

End of submitted Article

THE BOTTOM LINE: I have written many articles about the American media as well as our unconstitutional government controlled educational system. I take this article as if talking to an infantile citizenry that has become so programed that they have lost the ability to have an independent thought.  Moreover Americans have become so lazy and apathetic that even if they recognize that something isn’t quite right they will fail to do anything about it. There is always more important things to do like keeping up with the Kardashians.

Those that can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. Voltaire
“Although all men are born free, slavery has been the general lot of the human race. Ignorant--they have been cheated; asleep--they have been surprised; divided--the yoke has been forced upon them. But what is the lesson?…the people ought to be enlightened, to be awakened, to be united, that after establishing a government they should watch over it....It is universally admitted that a well-instructed people alone can be permanently free.”-James Madison

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie-- deliberate, contrived and dishonest-- but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."
-John F. Kennedy

If this is not what you want my friend, you had better do something about it now while you still can. Or as in Europe they are beyond the point of stopping it…we will have a war for our survival.

Thanks for listening my friend. Now go do the right thing, pray and fight for truth and freedom.

In the middle of the night, pro-Parliamentary Democracy protesters hauled a ten-foot tall statue known as “Lady Liberty” to Vitoria Peak overlooking the once free Chinese Island of Hong Kong as protesters clashed with riot police in the city below. The statue depicts an injured young Chinese woman in goggles and a helmet, holding an umbrella in one hand and a black flag in the other and proclaiming the protesters’ rallying cry, “Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times.”
The last time I was in Hong Kong it was in the mid 1960’s and was under the Parliamentary Democratic rule of Great Britain. For 150 years Hong Kong was leased from China by the Brits. The Hong Kong harbor between Vitoria Island and Kowloon was speckled with the red sails of Chinese Junks. In some of the holds were Chinese families smuggled out of Red China. They would likely end up in the subhuman conditions of a cardboard shack on the muddy hillsides of Hong Kong’s Suzi Wong district, made famous by the movie of the same name. Even that was better than anything in Communist Red China.

At midnight on July 1, 1997, Hong Kong reverted back to Chinese rule in a ceremony attended by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Prince Charles of Wales, Chinese President Jiang Zemin, and U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. A few thousand Hong Kongers protested the turnover, which was otherwise celebratory and peaceful.

A little history

In 1839, Britain invaded China to crush opposition to its interference in the country’s economic, social, and political affairs. One of Britain’s first acts of the war was to occupy Hong Kong, a sparsely inhabited island off the coast of southeast China. In 1841, China ceded the island to the British with the signing of the Convention of Chuenpi, and in 1842 the Treaty of Nanking was signed, formally ending the First Opium War.

Britain’s new colony flourished as an East-West trading center and as the commercial gateway and distribution center for southern China. In 1898, Britain was granted an additional 99 years of rule over Hong Kong under the Second Convention of Peking. In September 1984, after years of negotiations, the British and the Chinese signed a formal agreement approving the 1997 turnover of the island in exchange for a Chinese pledge to preserve Hong Kong’s capitalist system as well as its Free Independent Democracy. On July 1, 1997, Hong Kong was peaceably handed over to China in a ceremony attended by numerous Chinese, British, and international dignitaries. The chief executive under the new Hong Kong government, Tung Chee Hwa, formulated a policy based on the concept of “one country, two systems,” thus preserving Hong Kong’s role as a principal capitalist democracy in Asia.

Hong Kong today

But the agreement between Beijing and Brittan of a free capitalistic state for 50 years was short lived.  Freedom is all the Chinese in Hong Kong have ever known and now they are experiencing for the first time what it means to suddenly be thrust into Communism.

The Hong Kong protesters are now fighting for liberty, but they’re also fighting for their lives as Beijing tightens its grip on the city. Videos of riot police chasing and beating protesters in the streets.
Police had planned to use the hotlines of social media to let members of the public post photos and videos of protest activity, allowing police to gather intelligence on the protesters. After suspending the hotlines, Facebook issued a statement saying “WhatsApp is primarily designed for private messaging and we take action to prevent bulk and automated messaging.”
Twitter has also been willing to push back against the Chinese state’s attempts to use its platform to undermine the protests. In August, Twitter said it had discovered a “significant state-backed information operation” designed to discredit the legitimacy of the pro-democracy protesters and spread disinformation. The company suspended nearly 1,000 accounts it said were being used in a coordinated manner by Beijing. Around the same time, after news reports that China’s official state news agency was promoting tweets attacking the protesters, Twitter announced it would no longer accept advertising from state-controlled media organizations.
Twitter and Facebook are the exceptions to a disturbing trend of U.S.-based companies bowing down before the Chinese Communist Party. Witness the recent spectacle of the NBA censoring fans on American soil and shutting down questions from reporters asking players for comment on Hong Kong. It wasn’t enough to apologize for Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey’s tweet supporting the protesters. With billions invested in China, the NBA is apparently willing to import Beijing’s authoritarian methods to the United States.
Americans who love liberty—which is now becoming a small majority of us, because of where we fall on the political spectrum—are appalled at this. The People’s Republic of China is an autocratic state under the pitiless rule of the Communist Party of China. It runs the world’s largest concentration-camp network, suppresses religious practice among Christians, Jews, and Muslims, runs a massive organ-harvesting operation among political prisoners and ethnic minorities, and is in the process of creating—with the help of U.S. technology firms—the largest surveillance state in human history.
Contrary to the idiotic blather of the Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, there is no moral equivalence between the United States and China, and almost every American knows it. Most Americans also know that there is no moral difference between the Hong Kong protesters’ struggle for liberty and our own American Revolution. Their cause is so obviously just, so quintessentially American, it has united political figures as disparate as Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Time to Rethink Corporate Welfare

That’s why the behavior of these companies is so jarring. They clearly don’t share the allegiances or principles of the majority of the American people. They are concerned with other things, namely, making billions in China.
One might argue, so what? Companies, especially global companies, are supposed to make money, not play politics. Their only allegiance, as some libertarians like to point out, is to their shareholders.
Okay, fine. If these companies don’t owe allegiance to America and its founding principles, maybe it’s time to rethink what the American people owe them. If Delta airlines is going to affirm PRC territorial claims and adjust its corporate policies to appease the Chinese state, then maybe it shouldn’t receive tax subsidies from state governments and local economic development authorities.
Maybe the monopoly Delta enjoys at its regional hubs in Atlanta, Detroit, and Minneapolis should be up for negotiation. Maybe we should rethink the billions in federal subsidies that go to every major U.S. airline that kowtows to communist China.
Same goes for Apple, and Disney, and all the global firms that do the PRC’s bidding. If Apple’s Tim Cook, who a few years ago publicly defended his decision not to help the FBI’s investigation of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, is going to pull apps Hong Kong protestors use to defy the state, maybe it’s time to stop giving Apple millions in sales tax subsidies every year.
In other words, if these companies don’t owe any allegiance to America, why should America owe allegiance to them? There’s more to the life of a nation than its commerce, and some things really are worth fighting for. The struggle for freedom in Hong Kong is one of them. If these companies can’t bring themselves to cast their lots openly with America and the Chinese people against the tyranny of the Chinese Communist Party, then we owe them nothing but contempt.
THE BOTTOM LINE: It’s becoming difficult to tell the difference between the Communists in China and the Communists in our own government. A large minority of Americans have become indoctrinated with Socialistic Communist values so that it is almost acceptable to blindly embrace Communism. Are we becoming a bunch of corrupt robots without any moral values or sense of fundamental principles?
Did you know that Hong Kong is more than 12 percent Christian which will go away under Communist rule just as it is going away under the growing Communist rule in the United States. Today there are an estimated 44 percent Christians in the U.S. and shrinking, down from an estimated 85 percent in the 1800’s. The decline began largely in the early 1900’s after the abolition of Americas Free Constitutional Representative Republic and its replacement of a True Democracy which historically has always let to tyranny.

But I am not the only one who saw this coming

Democracy is the ability of a people to elect their own tyrant.-Thomas Jefferson
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Abraham Lincoln

Hong Kong was a Parliamentary Democracy just as America was a Constitutional Democracy, then in 1913 it became a ‘True Democracy’ now it is rapidly moving toward tyranny.

I guess nothing stays the same…

Think about it.

Thanks for listening my friend. Now go do the right thing, pray and fight for truth and freedom.

84 year old crossing guard fired and his home raided, guns seized. Why? RED FLAG LAWS.

This violates so many Constitutional laws I can’t even count that high.

Korean War-era veteran and retired Tisbury cop says actions were taken over an overheard misinterpreted conversation.

This my friend is what you can expect more of in the near future. This is how the Communists will disarm Americans just as they did in Venezuela leaving its citizens totally helpless to save their once free country.
By the looks of the picture, it looks like they may have sapped him on the forehead as well.
Stephen Nichols, 84, was fired from his job as a Tisbury crossing guard for an alleged "threat." He says his private overheard comments were heard wrong and misinterpreted.
A Tisbury School crossing guard has been relieved of duty and had his personal firearms confiscated for wrongful alleged threats to the Tisbury School overheard by a waitress at Linda Jean’s restaurant in Oak Bluffs.
Stephen Nichols, who said his career with the Tisbury Police spanned six decades and who served in the United States Army during the Korean War, told The Times he made no threats to the school, but had criticized its school resource guard officer in a private conversation with a friend. He said the private conversation was reported wrong and taken out of context.
I hope at least some of you will recognize the situation here as being one of Communist Russia USSR. Neighbor’s falsely rat finking on others to make points with the KGB.
Dan Larkosh, of the Edgartown firm Larkosh and Jackson, represents Nichols, and said he intends to file an appeal of the decision by Tisbury Police Chief Mark Saloio to seize guns owned by Nichols, as well as his CCW license to carry.
The police department has refused to release the police report from the investigation citing the “personnel” exemption of the public records law.
No criminal charges were filed against Nichols, they just legally stole his guns with an illegal unconstitutional law.
Nichols said he was unimpressed with the Tisbury School resource officer’s trips to Xtra Mart to get coffee when children came to school in the morning. While dining at Linda Jean’s a couple of weeks ago, Nichols said he told a friend about this and said: “somebody could shoot up the school in that officer’s absence”, which he described as “leaving his post.”
Nichols said the waitress made a complaint to Tisbury Police about what she thought she overheard and on the strength of that, Saloio and another officer relieved Nichols of his crossing guard duties while he was in the midst of performing them and subsequently drove to his home and stole his firearms license and guns.
He came up and told me what I said was a felony but he wasn’t going to charge me,” Nichols said of Saloio. That seems to be part of these illegal laws, they are not charged with anything, and the police just confiscate their guns, in some states without a warrant.
Asked if he was given a letter or any paperwork for the seizure of his license, Nichols said,No he just told me to hand it over so I took it out of my wallet and handed it to him.” Nichols said he has been licensed for firearms since 1958. He said he didn’t receive any paperwork or receipts for the seizure of his guns, either.
In a lengthy interview with The Times, Nichols explained his concern about Tisbury School: “When I was in the United States Army, and it wasn’t just me, it’s anybody who’s in the United States service, if you are on guard duty for eight hours, you didn’t leave that position,” Nichols said. “And I’m just so accustomed to that, that when I see someone who’s supposed to be protecting kids…leave the school unguarded — if you’re on guard duty, you stay there.”
Tisbury School Principal John Custer told The Times he was familiar with Nichols as a crossing guard but when asked if he knew of the Nichols’ situation, Custer responded by saying “crossing guards are hired, trained and scheduled, entirely by the police department.”
Linda Jean’s owner Marc Hanover said he’s known Nichols for decades and vouched for his integrity. He described the situation as “absolutely outrageous.” He said “he believes one of his servers overreacted.” Hanover said he spoke with the restaurant patron who had conversed with Nichols at the time of the alleged threats. “He assured me there was never a threat made,” Hanover said.
That patron, Edgartown resident Andy Marcus, described the situation as “absurd.” Marcus confirmed Nichols did not threaten the school but pointed out that Nichols thought Ogden, the resource officer, was having coffee at Xtra Mart and leaving the students potentially exposed. Marcus said he has known Nichols for years and often talks with him at the counter of Linda Jean’s. He said nobody at that restaurant but one server holds the opinion Nichols possibly posed a threat to the Tisbury School. Marcus said in addition to being a longtime special police officer, Nichols was a court officer and a constable.
“He loves kids,” Marcus said.
Nichols said he’s never been accused of threatening a school and never had a firearms violation. “I’ve got no record of any violations,” he said.
Nichols said he never carries guns outside the house and would like to have his license and his guns back, but the fate of the guns are sealed. I will never get them back. “My grandson is manager of a gun shop in Worcester, Mass and maybe he’s going to be allowed to come down and take the weapons and sell them for me,” he said.
Nichols said he has 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. “I would never, ever, ever, harm a child,” he said. Nichols lost his wife two years ago and values his crossing guard work as a connection to the outside world. “I just need something to do to get out of the house and I love the kids, but that’s over now” he said.

The folly of 'Red Flag' gun laws

Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams in Colorado made news over his willingness to go to jail over his refusal to enforce what will soon be the state’s new “Red Flag” law.

Given the way the anti-American news media plays these laws, also known as Extreme Risk Protection Orders, as being so sensible, Sheriff Reams is cast to look like a kooky right-winger. After all, who could be against taking away guns from people who are a danger to themselves or others right?

But the laws are more complicated than usually discussed in the press. Depending upon the state, anyone from a family member, intimate partner, ex, house or apartment mates, disgruntled neighbor or police can file a complaint. Under Colorado’s proposed law, anyone can make a phone call to the police. They don’t even have to be living in the state. There is no hearing, no investigation, all the judges have before them is the say so of an unknown person.

Fourteen states have now adopted these laws. Nine states adopted these laws last year after Parkland. Colorado will be the second state this year to adopt the law. U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat, and Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, have similar laws that they are pushing.

In the first nine months after Florida passed its Red Flag law last year, judges granted more than 1,000 confiscation orders. In the three months after Maryland’s law went into effect on Oct. 1, more than 300 people had their guns taken away.

In one case in Anne Arundel County, a 60-year-old man was killed when the police stormed his home unannounced at 5 a.m. to take away his guns. The Man thought he was being attacked and robbed so he resisted and was shot to death by police.

Little certainty is needed. Some states allow initial confiscations on just a “suspicion,” which is little more than a guess or a hunch. These standards allow a judge to take away a person’s right to self-defense when there is significantly less than 50 percent chance of something bad happening.
Only one state’s law mentions mental illness. The individuals who are identifying who they think are dangerous do so on an “I will know it when I see it” standard.

Even misdemeanor violations can cost you your right to own a gun. Gun control advocates want to take firearms away from people arrested but not even convicted of crimes. Their unwillingness to make that explicit indicates that they are afraid that courts would strike down such laws.

It has always been possible to take away someone’s guns, but all 50 states have required testimony by a mental health expert before a judge. Hearings could be conducted very quickly in urgent cases, but gun control advocates argue that it’s important to not even alert the person that his guns may be taken away. Hence, the 5 a.m. police raids. You are now guilty even if you are eventually proven innocent. You won’t get your guns back…

Despite the sacrifices, the evidence shows no benefits from these laws. Looking at data from 1970 through 2017, Red Flag laws appear to have had no significant effect on murder, suicide, the number of people killed in mass public shootings, robbery, aggravated assault or burglary. There is some evidence that rape rates have risen. These laws do not save lives. What they do, do is violate the Constitution and leave one helpless.

Everyone wants to stop mass public shooters. But we haven’t previously punished people because we have little more than a hunch, without any specific rules, that they might be a danger. Sheriff Steve Reams knows that the low standards mean that there are going to be a lot of mistakes. Stopping “future crimes” didn’t work in the movies, and they aren’t, and will not work in real life. What they will do, as the Framers knew all too well, is destroy your Constitutional rights and leave a vacuum for tyranny.

THE BOTTOM LINE: I have little to add to this story except to say that if someone, anyone, breaks into my house unannounced at 5:00 am, the first five intruders will get a face full of 12 gage double 00 buckshot. No more coffee and donuts for you!
If this is not what you want my friend, you had better do something about it now while you still can.  Or’ you can just do nothing and you will soon be in total subjection to martial law and tyranny.  Remember we now live in a Democracy where the majority of elected officials rule, not the Constitution.

Few recognized it, but our free Constitutional Republic began dying back in 1913 with the introduction of a true Democracy and the abolition of our Constitutional Representative Republic. Today we are experiencing the results of that mistake.

Think about it…

Thanks for listening my friend. Now go do the right thing, pray and fight for truth and freedom.
