You might remember
the words in the title as part of the lyrics in a popular song, but sadly it is
true about most high school and college graduates these days. Moreover it is
the reason why Communist driven Socialism and Islamism is surreptitiously creeping
into our government and stealthily encroaching into the very fabric of our Western
culture. What’s worse, it is beginning to take the place of our once free
Constitutional Republic.
Abraham Lincoln once said: “The philosophy of the classroom
in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” He
also said: America will never be
destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be
because we destroyed ourselves.
One of the many revisions
that the early USSR did to completely change and control the minds of the Russian
people was to eliminate their history. They
eventually even burned all the history books. The result was the future generations
knew nothing about their own culture except what the government had
indoctrinated them with. They knew almost nothing about their previous country.
Today the majority of Americans from
all backgrounds struggled to come up with the correct answers in a quiz about basic
American history from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute
(ISI). More than 2,500 randomly selected Americans took ISI's multiple choice basic
33 question test on civic literacy, 71% of them received an average score of
49% or a failing grade
The quiz revealed that over twice as
many people knew that Paula Abdul was a judge on American Idol than knew that
the phrase "government of the people, by the people, for the people"
comes from Lincoln's Gettysburg
Address.
The study finds
that less than half of U.S. adults can name all three branches of the
Federal Government, and just 48% know that the power to declare war belongs to
Congress. And almost 40% incorrectly said that it belongs to the president.
Well… that’s understandable because the last time war was legally declared was
the Second World War. Most have never witnessed the Constitutional declaration
of war.
Those who have
held elected office lack civic knowledge; 43% do not even know the Electoral
College is a constitutionally mandated assembly that elects the president. One
in five thinks it "trains those aspiring for higher office" or "was
established to supervise the first televised presidential debates."
"There is an epidemic of
economic, political, and historical ignorance in our country," says Josiah Bunting, III, Chairman of ISI's National
Civic Literacy Board. "It is disturbing enough that the
general public failed ISI's civic literacy test, but when you consider the even
more dismal scores of elected officials, you have to be concerned. How can
political leaders make informed decisions if they don't understand the American
experience? Colleges can, and should, play an important role in curing this
national epidemic of ignorance."
Because
of the failed Federal Department of Education we now have a populous, and worse
yet, a Congress that is almost totally historically illiterate. I wonder how
many even know that the Department of Education isn’t even legal, according to
the U.S. Constitution. The Tenth
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: “The powers not delegated to the United
States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to
the States respectively, or to the people.” In other words if it cannot be found in the
Constitution, it is up to the States or the people. And I challenge anyone to
find anything in the U.S. Constitution that gives the Federal government jurisdiction
over education in the many States.
As it turns
out the Tenth Amendment is the most violated law in the Constitution. And why you might ask? Because almost no one among the citizens in
America has any foggy idea what is in the Constitution or that the United
States was meant to be a Constitutional Republic and not a Democracy. The main
difference being that a Constitutional Republic is governed by law, the
majority rules only under the law. And a Democracy is governed by the majority period. The framers wrote the Constitution to prevent
But today's
ignorant congress has nearly totally ignored the law, so we are ruled with what
is left … the majority, and whether it is legal or not.
Thomas
Jefferson said: God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be
secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of
God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His
justice cannot sleep forever.
THE BOTTOM LINE: So how does this kind of ignorance occur?
Why don’t we teach our kids these basic subjects anymore? Did you know that
back in the 1940’s and 50’s the U.S. Ranked number 1 in education among industrialized
nations, and today we rank down at 18th? But that is only a small part
of the problem. The real problem is that “We The People” have been complacent
in our children’s education and have allowed the political government to take
control.
The illegal
Department of Education promotes mindless indoctrination instead of challenging
standard education, modifying or completely eliminating part or all of the type
of philosophic Americanism that has made this country great, and replaced it
with an acceptable form of social tyranny. Seldom taught is independent thought,
the children are instead programed like little robots so that when they hear a
word or a subject they automatically spew out the indoctrinational program that
they have recorded in their memory banks.
Is this
really what you want your children’s future to look like?
Thanks for listening my friend. Now go do the right
thing, pray and fight for truth and freedom.
